CoCA opened their doors in 1880 with the purpose of engaging their visitors and conncecting with them, they aim to provide stimulating experiences that help people understand contemporary life and culture. This beautiful building is located in the heart of Christchurch City and is an innovative platform for aritists to showcase their contemporary artwork.
The Centre of Contemporary Art hold regular tours throughout the day, where you can learn about CoCA’s history and building, the hosts will also inform of any exhibitions and events that are on at the time of your visit, all you have to do is ask at reception. All age groups are allowed to experience CoCA.

This pastel coloured street is filled with a range of boutique businesses from sweet shops to jewelry shops to whiskey bars. When is comes to Christchurch, there is a market for everyone and they are all flourishing with fresh locally sourced produce from the Canterbury region. Visit the Christchurch Farmers market, held every Saturday from 9am-1pm or the Riccarton Market every Sunday from 9am – 2pm. If you feel like a drive north of Christchurch, the Amberly Farmers Market is worth the visit. This market is open every Saturday from 9am – 12.30pm and is only a 46 minute drive from the city centre.
Christchurch is home to two boutique cinemas which are perfect if you are in the mood to get cosy and relax after a full day at the winter gift fare. The first cinema is the Alice Cinematheque and the second is the Deluxe cinema, both selling wine and cheese boards.
